I'm Melissa Clough, and I am a Certified Trainer & Consultant of NLP, Master Hypnotist, and Practitioner of Time Line Therapy, which are all approved by the American Board of Hypnotherapy, The American Board of Neurolinguistic Programming, the Time Line Therapy Association, the UK Guild of Hypnotist Examiners, and the NLPU Global Training & Consulting Community. I also hold a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology and am a member of the American Psychological Association.

 

I have trained with the co-developer of NLP, Robert Dilts, at NLP University at UC Santa Cruz in CA; as well as my husband, Hay House author and celebrity hypnotherapist, Joseph Clough, in the U.K. My line of training is directly influenced by the work of "The father of hypnosis," Dr. Milton Erickson; NLP co-founders, Dr. Richard Bandler, and John Grinder; and co-developers, Robert Dilts, and Judith DeLozier.

 

My extensive training allows me to train and certify other NLP practitioners, as well as bring you a unique skill set to empower you to let go of your limiting beliefs and behaviors. My approach to working with you brings focus to successful mindsets, while gaining new perspectives to          

ATX Hypnosis uses a unique approach to reprogramming thought patterns to achieve more desirable behavior by combining a technique called Neurolinguistic programming (NLP), Timeline Therapy™, and hypnosis. Utilizing these methods together allows the client to experience change on both a conscious and unconscious level, creating highly effective results.

 

The Complete Transformation Package is a 4 session package designed to reteach your mind to let go of negative thinking and develop new mindsets to achieve a life you desire. Because we will be teaching your mind new ways of thinking, each session builds upon the previous session's learning development, and therefore a 4 session commitment is required in order to achieve maximum outcome.

About Hypnosis

 

If you could change consciously, you would, wouldn't you? However, if you are unable to make your desired changes consciously, then the unconscious mind may be running the show. At ATX Hypnosis in Austin, I will help you make positive changes at an unconscious level through the use of hypnosis.  

 

Hypnosis is a state of being in complete comfort and relaxation. It can best be described as "concentrated attention" and characterized by an awake-sleep state (also alpha or theta state). Hypnosis is usually experienced in trance, where a high level of change can be experienced at an unconscious level.

During your session at ATX Hypnosis in Austin, you are in complete control of your conscious state, just as you would be during meditation, or being in a state of high concentration. For example, have you ever been so engaged in an activity, such as being glued to a movie, enthralled in a book, or super focused in a sport or project, that you don't notice anything else around you? Hypnosis is no different. As you are guided to deepen your awareness of your unconscious mind, you will begin to lose involvement in your external surroundings. However, just as you can break your focus from any activity, you can also come out of hypnosis at any time you desire. Therefore, you are always in control of being in trance.  

 

The primary state of consciousness that is most referred to in hypnosis/hypnotherapy is the Alpha state.  This is the state of mind where one is half-asleep, half-awake, and is in a state of deep relaxation or meditation. Once you allow yourself to enter an alpha state, your inner-talk will begin to slow down and you will begin to become more image-oriented, thus being guided to make positive changes in your life. 

 

In hypnosis, some may also experience the theta state, going into a very deep relaxation. Many people meditate for hours to get to this state of complete, and deep calmness of the mind. Many consider that being in the Gamma (higher brain activity in the consciousness revolved around perception) Theta state is a favorable state to produce instant healing.  

 

Scientific discoveries show that certain brain wave frequencies (especially the Alpha and Theta) may:

 

1. Relieve stress and promote a lasting and substantial reduction in people prone to anxiety states.

2. Facilitate a deep physical relaxation and mental clarity.

3. Increase verbal ability and performance IQ.

4. Better synchronize the two hemispheres of the brain.

5. Recall mental images and spontaneous imaginative/creative thinking.

6. Reduce pain, stimulate the release of endorphins, and promote euphoria.

 

 

Clients often come to me once they have "tried it all" and are ready to seek change at an unconscious level. It's completely "normal" to be skeptical at first, especially being that you may have previously tried various methods to produce behavioral change that have not given you the results you wanted. However, you will most likely find that once you allow yourself to tap into your ability to enter this unique state of consciousness, you will open the door to countless possibilities for healing, self-exploration, and positive change.
