Gain Emotional Balance With These 3 Easy Habits

We all have our bad days. As long as I've been practicing my own self-development, I still have days when I don't want to face the world. We're all human. The difference from wallowing in our own negativity and getting back up again to experience true joy in our life, however, is our ability to recover from those bad days; and that ability comes from a little bit of positive mental training. These 5 habits will help you get there:
1. Take Charge of Your Life
From a young age, many of us learn that our happiness is determined by our success. "If I have this house, or that partner, or that job; then I'll be happy." The issue with this, as you may know, is that we will never achieve happiness when we depend on external situations to bring us joy. Yes, many events can bring us joy. However, the long-lasting internal joy comes from first taking charge of our lives. By seeing happiness as the key to success in all areas of our life, rather than the other way around, we can first learn how to cultivate happiness; and thus reap the benefits of letting go of negativity. The first step in taking responsibility is to ask yourself, "In what ways am I choosing to be unhappy?" And then begin taking steps to change the decisions, attitudes, and behaviors that have become the excuses for your unhappiness.
2. Get Some Fresh Air
Did you know that 20 minutes of exercise per day releases endorphins and allows you to release pent-up energy that, if unreleased, turns into anger, frustration, and sadness? Try it and you'll see what I mean. Often times, the negative thoughts and energy that we experience comes from just being stagnant throughout the day. Many of us have jobs that keep us at a desk for long periods of time, and our bodies hold on to energy that is meant to move out of us. Even just a brisk walk can help ease the mind. And guess what: the days that you feel like getting out the least are the days you need it the most.
3. You Are What You Eat
So consider what you are putting into your body. Are you eating mostly processed meats, cheese, or snacks? Sadly, Americans are exposed and even hypnotised through marketing to eat toxic, chemically created foods, that carry little to no nutrition. If we're putting food created in a lab into our bodies, how do you think that effects our minds? Yes, there are so many contradicting schools of thoughts on health, and it can be easy to get caught up in all the confusion. After my long journey into good health, I found some key rules of thumb that I go by to help simplify the decision-making process about what to put into my body.
Rule of Thumb #1: In a box: no, fresh: yes. Which leads to:
Rule of Thumb #2:On the rare occasion I need to buy a product in a box, as well as for fresh produce, I look for the "Non-GMO Project" label, which indicates verification that the product has not been genetically modified (chemically created or altered).
Rule of Thumb #3: Buy certified organic. There have been many propagandas out there stating that organic isn't better, but even more research out there stating that it is. To me, common sense says that if it has chemicals, it can't be good for your body. So go organic.
Rule of Thumb #4: If you can't pronounce all the ingredients, take a pass. Again, chemicals= poison for your body. Poison for your body= lack of mental clarity and emotional balance.
Rule of Thumb #5: If it doesn't feel good in your body, don't eat it. Simple as that.
Remember, health is a journey. It's not about getting it all at once. So just do little steps along the way that are simple changes to making big transformations. A very easy way to get started is to notice how an unhealthy, processed food makes you feel. Is it heavy, or light; energizing or lethargizing, happy or agitated? The key is becoming aware of your body's messages. It's always giving you answers if you just pay attention.
